When you are remodeling your kitchen, the big things such as countertops and cabinets are at the forefront of your decision making process. You usually nail down the colors you like and have layout options mulling over in your head early on. When it comes to appliances, your dream fridge and oven may be at the top of your list. One of the appliances that you may not have thought of is your oven hood. Proper ventilation is important for a well used kitchen. Not only does it eliminate odors, it improves air quality while you cook and reduces grease buildup. In this blog we will discuss a few different styles, plus their benefits, of our designer Adrienne’s go to oven hood recommendations, Zephyr.
Island Hoods
Ventilation comes in all shapes and sizes! If you have the space and ceiling area for a direct ventilated hood, there are a variety of styles to choose from. Two of our favorites are the Anzio and Lucé hoods. The stainless steel Anzio Island Range Hood features a classic bell shape and lights underneath to help you while you cook. The Anzio is also available as a wall hood!
The Lucé Hood is also stainless steel, but has a sleek, modern design that is emphasized by its LED lighting. The ambient lighting settings feature Cloud White, Amber, and Deep Blue.

Wall Hoods
Wall hoods are traditionally what you may think of when you envision your freshly remodeled kitchen. There are hoods that are similar in design to the island hoods above, with some available as both an island hood and wall hood. The Vista Wall Mount Range Hood is a minimalist, stainless steel option for a modern kitchen. It features touch controls that remain invisible until you need them, and it's sleek design makes it an appliance that will blend seamlessly with your cabinet layout.
The Mesa Wall Hood is a slightly alternative design for the fashion forward kitchen remodel. While most range hoods feature a chimney, the Mesa is a standalone hood that is a statement piece in and of itself. It includes a variety of finishes that appeal to a wide variety of kitchen designs: satin gold, matte black, and traditional stainless steel. This hood also has the option to come with a chimney if you prefer that style!
Downdraft Range Hoods
If you have an open kitchen layout where you don't want an obstructed view or a space that does not fit a standard oven hood, a downdraft range hood might be a great option for you! Downdraft ranges such as the Sorrento and Lift Downdraft Ranges from Zephyr are an example of the design options available. The Sorrento range hood is a subtle way to ensure your kitchen stays clean, with a touch of class. When you are done cooking, just press a button and the hood recedes into the countertop.
The Lift Downdraft Hood is a slightly larger option for those with an island range who don't want to install a standard hood. With LED lights on the top of the hood, you will be able to light your cooktop with ease. This style hood is an easy way to elevate your space without adding intrusive appliances.

However you decide to create your kitchen, your oven hood will be one of the finishing touches on your design. Whether you want to have a high end, modern vibe or a subtle fixture that hides away when you're finished, there are a wide variety of options available.
